Not the Same Old Dentistry-Experience Relaxation.

Oral conscious sedation (OCS) utilizes oral sedative medication to significantly reduce your fears and discomfort.Oral conscious sedation does not require needles to administer and is not as costly as IV sedation.

Benefits of Oral Conscious Sedation:
  • Very effective for mild to moderate anxiety
  • Safe and easy
  • You breathe on your own and are able to speak and get up to use the restroom
  • Limited memory of the procedure

Many people choose to get all their dental work done in one visit.General anesthesia renders patients completely unconscious but oral conscious sedation leaves you able to speak and breathe on your own. You will experience a heightened state of relaxation and probably will not remember much about the procedure afterwards. Your appointment will be a dream and hours in the chair will feel like minutes.

How Does It Work?

Oral conscious sedation will put you at ease so you experience little to no discomfort; however, your doctor will also administer a local anesthetic to ensure that you do not experience pain.By the time the anesthetic is administered, you are so relaxed you will hardly notice.

Comfortable and stress-free. Weather you are anxious about going to the dentist or just too busy for multiple visits, OCS can be a great solution to getting all your dental work done in one visit!

After your comprehensive exam you will be scheduled for a consultation. At this consultation Dr. Davis will discuss your treatment needs and discuss sedation types if you feel sedation would be of benefit to you.If you decide sedation is indicated, instructions for administering the medication will be discussed along with important instructions to follow the night before and the morning of your appointment.OCS does require someone to bring you to your appointment, pick you up and stay with you until the sedation has cleared your system.

Sedation has opened a positive gateway for people that have dental anxiety and or just need longer appointments receive their treatment in total relaxation! Dental fear does not have to keep you from your treatment any longer with options like Oral conscious sedation. Feel free to call and discuss any questions you may have with Dr. Davis or staff today.
